The former Ajax and Inter Milan coach was instantly named as one of the front-runners to replace Danny Blind when news broke of the Oranje boss sacking.

However, De Boer’s agent Guido Albers has told AD that he will not be taking over the national team as he wants to continue in club football.

Albers said, “He wants to be on the field every day.

“So he’s not available? No, Frank de Boer will not be the new coach. It’s nothing to do with risk factor. Frank really wants to work on a team.”

De Boer’s brother Ronald believes Louis van Gaal is the best option, but added, “I would advise him not to do it. Henk ten Cate is therefore an option. Someone with charisma and loves attacking football. Put one former player like Ruud van Nistelrooy and Mark van Bommel next.”

A foreign boss is also an option for Ronald de Boer, “I’m definitely open. But only one who is for attacking football. That would be a German. Or an Argentinian or a Spaniard. ”
