Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong has stated he has not yet decided between an international future with the Netherlands or Ghana.

Frimpong was born in Amsterdam to Ghanaian parents, but moved to England at a young age to join Manchester City. The right-back is then able to represent the three countries.

However, speaking to Algemeen Dagblad, Frimpong has stated England is not an option, while he is still to decide between the Netherlands and Ghana.

He said, “I can play for England, but that is not even an option for me. I am not English. But I have not yet chosen between Ghana and the Netherlands.

“What gives me the final push, I don’t know. I can just say it’s not an easy decision. My family tell me, “We support you, regardless of your choice”. It’s up to me.”

Frimpong is hoping for a call-up to the Netherlands U21 squad next month, “It would be a great honour to be invited.”
