Ghana head coach James Kwesi Appiah has revealed talks with several Dutch players about switching their allegiances to the African nation.

Appiah went on a scouting mission around Europe looking to speak with a number of players that are eligible to represent Ghana.
Quoted by Modern Africa, Appiah confirmed he had held successful talks with five players in the Netherlands, some who were Oranje youth international.
He said, “I have been visiting the players. I have been to Holland and Belgium. I have spotted about four to five players.
“I have seen them play a lot of times but I needed to see them and talk to them in person.
”Because some of them are willing to play for Ghana and others do not want to, so you will have to see them and talk to them.
”Out of the five I have spoken to from Holland, they are all willing to play for the Black Stars but there are some of them who have played for the junior national teams of Holland so we will have to do a nationality switch for them.”
No names were given but there are several candidates who could be playing in the Eredivisie. Netherlands U21 duo Cody Gakpo and Myron Boadu could both represent Ghana while Ajax striker Brian Brobbey could also have been a target.
Jeez better lock up Boadu quick, that kids already looking like a gem.
This is just stupid. Instead of calling useless players like Babel, Koeman should call for example Boadu and let him in for 5 min. in the game. He can be next Ronaldo playing for Ghana just because you have to waste a spot in a team for bad and old players. Omg
Babel’s work rate has been fantastic and he contributed very well in both September matches. Just because he doesn’t score every match doesn’t make him useless.
If anyone should be tossed out of the squad it should be Steven Berghuis, who has been poor the few recent times he has won an actual cap.
Not even sure who I should reply to on this one. Maniek, any decent footballer with a great shot at making the senior club isn’t going to jump ship and go to Ghana. We are talking fringe players in U21 or other youth teams that never have a shot passed that and Ghana or Curacao are great options. Secondly, why call him up when he can win games for the u21 team and he won’t have to rot on the bench for a week for a five minute cameo that will prevent him from making any other international move. Also, keep in mind it will be his decision.
Bob, really, Berghuis? He’s been a bright spot for Feyenoord in these dark days for them. He doesn’t get into a rhythm for Oranje which is a lot more difficult when you are a regular starter. Fire shots at the starting XI not at the bench and when these guys to get called to start a game then you can be critical. He’s there for a reason.
The two of you have a lot less football knowledge than Koeman. He has his reasons for picking this team and I think we all feel like we should have a say in the selection (I am for the majority on Weghorst, but if he doesn’t defend and buy into the concept, that’s on him not Koeman) because of how crap we were under Blind and Advocaat. But let’s let him do what he’s doing.
Johnny, if you actually read any of my recent posts on this site recently you would know that I am no Koeman hater. Obviously you haven’t. He’s done a fabulous job with this team and I usually am the one to defend his selection consistency choices against fickle fans.
But I just don’t understand Berghuis at all. Can you name ONE decent performance he’s put in for the Oranje in a non-friendly (when he’s even played)? He’s a hothead and a liability in that regard, too. So WHAT is your reason why he should be there? Just because he’s left footed (even though Stengs’s league performance has been even better), or just so that Feyenoord can be represented in the NT (even though they are a complete and total JOKE this season)?
You are right about the joke Feyenoord is this season and you are right. In an Orange shirt he has not played decently unless it was a friendly. Although, when Blind was coaching I believe the three of Berghuis, Promes and Memphis actually did ignite some excitement. I found that Berghuis actually did find Memphis very well. But other than that, youth has blossomed and I’m alright waiting for Stengs to get stronger and build his confidence while Berghuis warms the bench while chatting with Strootman. I guess I have a soft spot for Berghuis because of the dark days of Oranje. I usually do read your stuff Bob (you write well and I usually enjoy what you have to say) but sometimes I do forget and the comments are so long ago that I cannot be bothered to go back and read them again. I remember you being for Koeman. The second half of my rant was more generalized than anything. Not just directed at you. Again, though, Berghuis, I have a soft spot for and sticking up for a guy that probably doesn’t have a lot of people behind. Probably how I feel about Veltman too!
