Georgios Giakoumakis once again netted four goals in a game as VVV-Venlo defeated title-hopefuls Vitesse Arnhem 4-1.

Two weeks ago, Giakoumakis netted four goals in the 4-1 victory over ADO Den Haag, and on Wednesday the Greek forward was once again unstoppable.

By half-time, VVV were 3-0 up with Giakoumakis netting all three after three assists from Zinedine Machach. The Eredivisie top scorers first two goals were headers from Machach’s crosses before the duo combined for Giakoumakis to scoop the ball brilliantly into the net.

Vitesse were shocked but they did improve after the break with Oussama Tannane hitting the woodwork. On the hour mark, Armando Broja did make it 3-1.

However, there was to be no comeback for Vitesse as they missed several chances before Giakoumakis headed in a corner to seal the victory for VVV.

Giakoumakis now has 20 goals in the league this season with VVV 12th in the table. Vitesse are now third, behind PSV Eindhoven and may fall six points off Ajax on Thursday.
