Go Ahead Eagles gained confidence as the half went on, and Joel Veltman had to make a last ditch challenge to deny Rijsdijk’s powerful shot.

De Sa nearly broke the deadlock at the start of the second half, but his attempted cross came back off the bar with Room scrambling.

Frank de Boer threw on Lasse Schone, and it was the Dane that opened the scoring on 74 minutes with a fierce effort into the bottom corner, after his initial free-kick came back off the wall.

Bojan was unlucky not to add the second with ten minutes to go, as his shot crashed off the top of the bar after being teed up by Viktor Fischer.

Ajax clung onto their slim lead under pressure from Go Ahead to move two points clear at the top, while Go Ahead remain 12th.
