Vitesse Arnhem have ended their run of two straight defeats with a comfortable win over Go Ahead Eagles in Deventer.

The home side had found themselves back in the bottom three after Sparta Rotterdam’s victory on Saturday, but they started brightly on Sunday and should have took the lead through Sam Hendriks. However, the striker could only head over the goal from close range on 26 minutes.

Three minutes later, Vitesse went down the other end and after some pinball in the Go Ahead box, Ricky van Wolfswinkel slid the ball into the net. It was the striker’s 11th goal of the season.

Seven minutes into the second half, the visitors doubled their lead as Navarone Foor cut into the box before curling a strike past Theo Zwarthoed. The Go Ahead goalkeeper then made two good saves to deny Lewis Baker but could do nothing about Milot Rashica’s strike which flew past him with ten minutes left to make it 3-0.

Just before the end, Daniel Crowley pulled one back for the hosts with a low strike into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.

The victory moves Vitesse up to 7th while Go Ahead remain 16th.
