711667In the same fixture last season, Go Ahead Eagles raced into a two goal lead in the opening fifteen minutes, and history repeated itself in Deventer.

After only seven minutes Jeffrey Rijsdijk opened the scoring after a fine cross from Fernando Lewis, and seven minutes later the winger netted himself after capitalising on Maikel van der Werff’s mistake.

PEC Zwolle got themselves back into the match on twenty minutes when Stefan Nijland firing an excellent strike into the top corner from distance.

The visitors were then denied by the crossbar before Bart Vriends headed Jop van Der Linden’s corner past Warner Hahn to restore Go Ahead’s two goal lead.

The second half saw PEC Zwolle look for a way back into the game, but it wasn’t until 15 minutes before the end that Tomas Necid headed Bart van Hintum’s cross into the net. PEC Zwolle new boy Wout Brama wasted an excellent chance to find the equaliser as Go Ahead held on for the win.

PEC Zwolle slip to 4th while Go Ahead sit 13th.
