After making an excellent start to the season with Club Brugge, Arnout Danjuma Groeneveld is dreaming of a call-up to the Dutch national team.

The 21-year-old has scored three goals and contributed two assists in seven appearances so far for Club Brugge, who signed the winger this summer from NEC, despite interest from Manchester City.

Speaking to VI, Groeneveld said on interest from top teams, “They reported, but I consciously opted for Bruges. There was also interest from Germany, England and France. I follow my feelings, always. I can not explain how that works exactly, but here it just worked. Club really wanted me. I love that attention. When I came here, it was immediately clear to me. Compared to all other clubs that were interested – including Manchester City – I can best develop here. “

Groeneveld is currently a Netherlands U21 international and has his heart set on a future in Oranje, despite also being able to represent Nigeria. He said, “The Dutch national team is my dream, but I also have the African culture in me. Who knows I may play for Nigeria, I would seriously think about it if they would call me, but it would be a shame. Because I want to get to Oranje. “
