PSV Eindhoven missed the chance to go to the top of the Eredivisie table as they were beaten 1-0 by a determined Groningen side.

PSV should have been ahead early on, but Memphis Depay could only fire over the bar from the edge of the box, before he had a low shot denied by Marco Bizot when put through by Adam Maher.
Groningen’s best chance fell to defender Eric Boetteghin, who’s free header was cleared off the line by Ola Toivonen.
Toivonen was guilty of missing a huge chance at the other end, as he could only hit the ball straight at Bizot from a few yard out after good work by Depay.
At the start of the second half, Depay saw a first time effort brilliantly saved by Bizot once again. Groningen went straight down the other end, and after a quick free-kick, Chery set up Filip Kostic to make it 1-0 with a low finish through Tyton’s legs.
The hosts had the chance to wrap up the three points, but substitute forward Richairo Zivkovic fired just wide of Tyton’s right hand post.
In the final stages PSV bombed forward but could not find a way past the excellent Bizot, with Groningen holding on for all three points.
The win moves Groningen 7th, but only two points behind leaders FC Twente, while PSV stay the one point behind in 2nd.
