The visitors took an early lead when Cas Peters strike proved too strong for Groningen goalkeeper Sergio Padt, who allowed the ball to slip past his hands and into the net on eight minutes.
Before the break Groningen equalised as Rasmus Lindgren lifted a excellent free kick from just outside the box over the wall and past a helpless Jurjus.
The game then seemed to be heading for a draw, but on 76 minutes Hedwiges Maduro’s header came down off the bar and hit the back of Jurjus and crossed the line to give Groningen the lead. Four minutes later Oussama Idrissi raced into the box before arrowing a shot past Jurjus to seal the victory.
Groningen now sit tenth, while De Graafschap remain second bottom and one point above Cambuur.
