Groningen have confirmed on their website that they have signed midfielder Albert Rusnak from Manchester City on a three and a half year deal.

rusnak gronThe 20-year-old has impressed on loan with Cambuur so far this season, but with his deal at the Leeuwarden club over in January Groningen have swooped to beat Heerenveen to his permanent signature. Groningen have agreed a fee of around €550,000 for Rusnak, who will move to his new club on January 1st.

Rusnak, a Slovakian U21 international, started his career with MFK Kosice, but at the age of 16 made the move to Premier League club Manchester City. The midfielder failed to make an appearance in Manchester and spent loan spells at Oldham and Birmingham City before joining Cambuur in the summer.

So far this season Rusnak has made 12 league appearances for Cambuur, scoring three times. Rusnak will be presented to the media by Groningen after his deal with Cambuur expires in January.
