Groningen received an offer of €3.3 million from Fulham for top scorer Mimoun Mahi in January which led to the club exploring potential options for a new striker.

Hans Nijland has revealed to RTVNoord that they enquired about the chances of signing Tottenham’s Vincent Janssen or Schalke’s Klaas-Jan Huntelaar on loan. “Nothing ventured, nothing gained.” said the director.

However, when both offers failed they then said no to the offer from Fulham for Mahi.
