Groningen defender Samir Memisevic has confirmed he has held talks with Celtic over a possible move to the Scottish Champions.

The 25-year-old’s contract expires next summer but Groningen has an option to extend it by another year and have offered the Bosnian a new deal.

However, Memisevic has told the Record that he has held talks with Celtic and is thinking about his future. He said, “There has been contact, yes – but there is nothing concrete yet.

“FC Groningen would like to keep me, the club even offered me a new three-year contract, several clubs are interested. For me it is now especially important to take the time and think very carefully about what is the best option for my career.”

Memisevic is in his third year with Groningen, having previously played for among others FK Teleoptik and FK Bežanija Belgrade.
