A thirteenth minute penalty was enough to earn Groningen a 1-0 win over Vitesse Arnhem in the Euroborg.

The home side started brightly and had the lead in the thirteenth minute when Oussama Tannane fouled Ajdin Hrustic in the box. Ramon Lundqvist netted from the spot to make it 1-0.
Eighteen-year-old Romano Postema, who was picked ahead of new signing Daishawn Redan, missed a great chance to make it 2-0 shortly afterwards. Just before the break, Postema went down injured and was replaced by Redan at half-time.
In the second half, the best chances fell to Vitesse Arnhem and Jay-Roy Grot, but Sergio Padt kept a clean sheet to earn his side the victory.
Groningen remain eighth with the win while Vitesse are 6th.
