Groningen came from behind to defeat 10-man Fortuna Sittard 4-1 on Saturday night.

Fortuna Sittard had the lead in the 24th minute when Mats Seuntjens surprised Peter Leeuwenburgh with a strike from distance. However, Groningen equalised five minutes later with Cyril Ngonge heading in.

Just before the break, Groningen had the lead as a Ngonge cross hit the leg of George Cox before ending up in the net. Six minutes into the second half it was 3-1 as Daleho Irandust tapped in after Yanick van Osch parried a strike from Laros Duarte.

Things went from bad to worse for the hosts as Roel Janssen saw red for a hard tackle on Mo El Hankouri. Jørgen Strand Larsen then added a fourth goal for Groningen with a calm finish after a through ball by Irandust.

Groningen have their second win in a row and they are now 12th while Fortuna Sittard are 17th.
