Groningen had to battle to earn a 1-1 draw against the bottom of the table PEC Zwolle after a wonderful goal from Mees de Wit.

Groningen was looking to climb into the top half with a victory but after only 14 minutes, Mees de Wit gave the visitors the lead with an excellent strike from a distance that found the net via the underside of the crossbar.
Before the break, PEC Zwolle could have made it 2-0 but Peter Leeuwenburgh denied Gervane Kastaneer.
Groningen struggled but in the 75th minute, they were level with Thomas van den Belt netting an unfortunate own goal from a corner.
PEC Zwolle almost sealed a late victory but Siemen Voet hit the crossbar with a late header.
Groningen will have been disappointed with a point but they sit 11th, while PEC Zwolle are still bottom and on six points.
