Feyenoord were held to a 1-1 draw by Groningen in Euroborg.

Feyenoord headed to the Euroborg on the back of two wins against VVV Venlo and RKC Waalwijk. However, Groningen, who won their last four home matches, were a much tougher task for the Rotterdammers.

Groningen hit the post through Ajdin Hrustic early on but Feyenoord took the lead in the 32nd minute. Sam Larsson played through Luis Sinisterra with an outstanding pass and the winger lifted the ball over Sergio Padt and into the net.

Groningen looked for an equaliser in the second half and on the hour mark, Jens Toornstra took out Mike Te Wierik in the box. Samir Memisevic slotted in the penalty to make it 1-1.

The only big chance for either side to win the game fell in injury time but Padt kept out a Steven Berghuis header.

The draw means Feyenoord are tenth with Groningen one place above them.
