Giovanni van Bronckhorst has been officially unveiled as the new head coach of Chinese side Guangzhou R&F.

Guangzhou dismissed Dragan Stojkovic this week and have now appointed Van Bronckhorst, who will be assisted by fellow Dutchmen Jean-Paul van Gastel and Arno Philips.

The former Feyenoord boss leaves his job with the City Group to take on the role and is believed to have turned down the head coach position at New York City.

The 44-year-old told his press conference, “I want to get to know the team as quickly as possible, get to know the qualities and then build a strong team. I notice that everyone is motivated and wants to contribute to the development of the club. ”

Guangzhou R&F finished 12th in the Chinese Super league last season and have Mousa Dembélé and Eran Zahavi on their books.
