Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is happy for Erik ten Hag after he led Ajax to the semi-finals of the Champions League.

While Guardiola was in charge of Bayern Munich, Ten Hag was coaching their reserve side.

The pair could have had a reunion in the Champions League semi-finals but Manchester City were knocked out by Tottenham Hotspur, who will now take on Ajax for a place in the final.

Speaking at his press conference on Friday, Guardiola said about Ten Hag, “I was lucky to meet him at Bayern and he was an assistant from the second team. We had a lot of chats.

“I’m delighted where he is, a historical club. It would have been a pleasure to play him. I wish him a good two games and I will be watching on TV.”
