The Sunday Mirror is reporting that Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is furious at the club as it appears Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong could be heading to PSG.

De Jong is remaining tight-lipped on his future, but De Telegraaf was sure on Thursday that the midfielder will be heading to PSG next summer in a €75 million move.

This news reportedly stunned Man City boss Pep Guardiola, who spoke with De Jong for three-and-a-half hours and was convinced that the 21-year-old would be heading for England.

A Manchester City delegation was due in Amsterdam on Thursday to discuss the deal but pulled out just hours before they were due to board their flight. This hesitation allowed PSG the opportunity to swoop.

The reason for Manchester City’s hesitation is not known but they are currently fearing sanctions from UEFA for possibly breaking financial fair play rules.

Guardiola saw De Jong as a replacement for 33-year-old Fernandinho and is said to be furious that another of his targets has slipped through his hands after Jorginho and Fred chose other clubs in the summer.
