Gullit hasn’t taken up a job in coaching since leaving Russian side Terek Grozny in 2011, but last month he accepted the role of assistant manager to the Dutch national team.
A press conference was held on Tuesday to unveil Gullit and new head coach Dick Advocaat. Gullit said, ” I am honoured to become assistant manager of Oranje.
”I have also sat on your side of the table in the press and I know how easy it is to criticise and I also had the advantage that I have played football as a professional.
”There is not a single player in the world that wants to play bad football. The reasons that players play bad sometimes have causes behind them and I know of the causes.
”I will try to anticipate and intervene where I can in terms of talking to players. I know the details well and that will be my task and I am honoured that I will be able to do it.”
