PSV Eindhoven warmed up for their clash with Barcelona by hammering a sorry ADO Den Haag 7-0 in the Kyocera Stadion.

Mark van Bommel left new signing Erick Gutierrez on the bench for the visit to ADO Den Haag as the coach went with his usual starting eleven, despite having one eye on Tuesday’s trip to Barcelona.

ADO Den Haag wanted to make the game difficult for PSV at the start but they gifted the visitors a goal after 18 minutes. Lex Immers terrible back-pass was latched on by Hirving Lozano who poked the ball into the net. PSV were comfortable after the opener and moments before the break it was 2-0 through Luuk de Jong, who headed in an Angelino cross.

Minutes into the second half, Nick Viergever posted a contender for miss of the season as he somehow fired wide from point-blank range after a clever flick from De Jong. However, a third did quickly follow for PSV as Gaston Pereiro netted from the spot after VAR noticed a foul on De Jong by Aaron Meijers.

Van Bommel then handed Gutierrez his debut and the Mexican midfielder wasted no time in making an impact. In the 73rd minute he sent Lozano free with a lovely ball over the top and the winger lobbed Groothuizen for PSV’s fourth. Two minutes later, Gutierrez made it 5-0 with a thumping strike into the top corner.

In injury time, Steven Bergwijn added a sixth before Pereiro netted another penalty to complete the rout. PSV maintain their perfect start to the season and will now focus on Barcelona.
