Heerenveen are up to 8th in the Eredivisie after a 2-1 victory over Heracles Almelo.

The game got off to a quiet start but seven minutes before the break, Heerenveen took the lead through Morten Thorsby, who headed in following a short corner.

Two minutes later, Reza Ghoochannejhad was played in on goal before being brought down by Robin Propper. Arber Zeneli scored the resulting spot-kick to make it 2-0.

Heracles improved after the break but substitute Paul Gladon saw a goal disallowed before Brandley Kuwas and Kristoffer Peterson also went close. Late on, Brahim Darri did pull one back but it proved to just be a consolation as Heerenveen held on for the victory.

Heerenveen move up to eighth while Heracles drop to 10th.
