Dick Advocaat suffered his third straight defeat as Sparta Rotterdam boss with Heerenveen coming from behind to win 2-1 on Friday evening.

Looking for his first points since taking over in Rotterdam, Advocaat’s side got off to the perfect start when Julian Chabot nodded in from close range on two minutes after Fred Friday flicked on a corner.

Craig Goodwin missed a good chance to make it 2-0 shortly afterwards and then Heerenveen began to pile on the pressure with Martin Odegaard firing into the side netting. On fifteen minutes the pressure proved too much as Reza Ghoochannejhad tapped the ball in from close range after a swift counter.

Both sides then had good chances to take the lead before the break but went into the second half all square. With 25 minutes to go, Denzel Dumfries settled the game with a fierce strike that surprised goalkeeper Leonard Nienhuis.

Friday and Dabney Dos Santos then wasted good chances for the equalsier before Ryan Sanusi fired over from close range just before the end.

The loss means Sparta remain bottom of the table while Heerenveen are ninth.
