Heerenveen came from behind to beat Willem II 2-1 on Saturday evening as the Frisian’s continue their excellent start to the campaign.

Jurgen Streppel’s side are the only unbeaten team in the Eredivisie so far this season and they begun confidently on Saturday evening with Reza Ghoochannejhad putting the ball in the net after only three minutes, but it was disallowed for a foul.

The hosts got their first win of the season last weekend against Roda JC, and on 12 minutes they shocked Heerenveen by taking the lead. reek Heerkens crossed to the back post for Elmo Lieftink to nod into the net.

Heerenveen controlled possession after falling behind but they had to wait until just before the break to find the equaliser with Stijn Schaars firing an excellent free kick into the top corner.

Just before the hour mark, the visitors took the lead through Yuki Kobayashi who found the bottom corner with a strike from distance.

Both sides then had chances to add to the scoreline before the end but Lieftink was denied by Martin Hansen, while Reza couldn’t convert from close range at the other end.

The victory moves Heerenveen to the top of the table while Willem II remain 17th.
