Heerenveen made it two wins from two to start the season with a 3-1 victory over Fortuna Sittard.

Despite a poor pre-season, Heerenveen started their campaign with a 2-0 win over Willem II last weekend. The confidence was clear as the Frisians swept Fortuna Sittard aside in the first-half and led 3-0 by the break.

Oliver Batista Meier got the opener after a cutback from Henk Veerman in the 15th minute. On the half-hour mark, Meier was brought down in the box, and Joey Veerman netted the resulting penalty. Henk Veerman then added the third before the break with a fierce strike from close range.

In the second half, Heerenveen invited pressure from Fortuna Sittard, who pulled a goal back in the 70th minute through Sebastian Polter. However, Heerenveen comfortably saw out the rest of the game to seal the victory.

Heerenveen move onto six points with PSV and Vitesse, while Fortuna Sittard are currently bottom with no points.
