Fraser stated that his players were disappointed after missing several chances to beat Lazio in their Europa League opener.
He said, ”We lost tonight due to the quality of the opponent that we faced. They made a substitution and you see that gave them an impulse in quality.
”It’s disappointing for Maikel Van der Werff especially with him having played fantastic in the first half against a great player in Luis Alberto. Of course, mistakes are made but mostly it is due to the pressure and quality of the opponent. Lazio were impeccable in taking their chances in an attacking sense tonight.
”We had mixed feelings in the changing room after the match tonight. It maybe sounds strange but I was looking for the reaction that we were disappointed that we did not beat such a big club as Lazio at home.
”We learned a lot in a defensive sense tonight not playing the ball back to the goalkeeper or choosing to put it out of play that is one lesson and also being sharper in our man marking too.
”We had chances to see out that game by making it 3-1 and we did not manage to do that. As a team we did not take the chances that we created and you learn when playing in these types of matches.”
