PSV started the match brightly and had a great chance to open the scoring on five minutes when Jetro Willems fed Luuk de Jong in the box, but the striker could only fire wide. Further chances followed for Georginio Wijnaldum and Memphis Depay, but Heracles stood firm.
Against the run of play Heracles took the lead on 29 minutes when Jeroen Zoet dropped Ousamma Tannane’s free kick and Bryan Linssen was on hand to knock in the rebound. On the stroke of half time PSV drew level with Memphis Depay faking to shoot before slipping the ball through to Luuk de Jong to calmly finish into the bottom corner.
De Jong should have made it 2-1 15 minutes from time but his first time effort from Depay’s cross came crashing down on the bar, while at the other end Karim Rekik had to clear Jeroen Veldmate’s effort off the line.
PSV pushed for the winner, De Jong and Rekik were close with headers, while Depay shot just wide, and finally in injury time the visitors got the winner they deserved. A corner was not claimed by Heracles keeper Dennis Telgenkamp and Rekik eventually stabbed the ball into the net.
Heracles are now 17th, and remain a point above Dordrecht, while PSV keep up their excellent start to the season. At the end of the season that Rekik goal could prove crucial.
