Twente are yet to earn a win so far this season and once again they were second best from the start in Almelo as Heracles took the lead on 14 minutes as Illias Bel Hassani’s shot wrong-footed goalkeeper Nick Marsman. The midfielder nearly made it 2-0 soon after, but his shot went just wide.
The away side looked for an equaliser but Jesus Corona, possible playing his final Twente match, fired way over the bar before seeing a shot cleared off the line in the second half.
Heracles then sealed the win 15 minutes before the end, steering a free kick into the bottom corner from close range, and only an excellent save from Marsman and an astonishing miss from Paul Gladon prevented the score for being even higher for the home side.
The win puts Heracles temporarily level on points with leaders Ajax and Feyenoord, while Twente remain third bottom and pressure will further increase on coach Alfred Schreuder.
