Heracles Almelo’s excellent start to the season continued as they beat Willem II 2-1 on Friday night to move third in the Eredivisie table.

The home side got off to the perfect start on three minutes when Jaroslav Navratil was sent through on goal by Thomas Bruns and the winger fired a low shot under Kostas Lamprou to make it 1-0.
Just before the half hour mark it was 2-0 with a Bruns corner being met by Roman Zomer who headed in from close range. Minutes later Willem II nearly halved the deficit but Bram Castro brilliantly stopped AdamĀ Nemec’s headerĀ from close range.
After the break Willem II did pull a goal back through Erik Falkenburg’s header, but the Tilburg side couldn’t find an equaliser as Heracles comfortably held on.
Heracles’s eighth win in eleven games moves them temporarily into third, while Willem II sit 16th.
