Heracles Almelo boss John Stegeman praised his players after they shocked PSV Eindhoven 2-1 on Saturday night to climb to the top of the table.

Heracles lost their opening game to Roda JC, but since then the club has gone on a run of five wins, and Saturday’s defeat of PSV saw the club climb temporarily to the top of the table.
After the match Heracles boss John Stegeman was delighted with his players, telling NOS, “The unshakable team spirit and not giving up. We battled until the last minute .We had to give everything we had and that is what we did
“We conceded an a silly goal and that can happen. I thought that the following 10-15 minutes after they scored we had difficulty with their pressing game But we dealt with that in the first half in order to cause PSV problems and we scored two fantastic goals.”
On Heracles run to the top of the table he added, “I think you can see what that does an enormous positive flow. New stadium. People that are really happy. Full terraces that is something we want. I am really happy too. It’s not everyday that you beat PSV to go top of the league even for a short while.
“It’s fantastic how we do it all together this season until now and that can only stimulate us to keep going in such a way. I have absolutely nothing to complain about in regards to our start to this season.”
