Hiddink will act as an adviser to coach Phillip Cocu as he hopes to turn around the clubs fortunes this season, with PSV currently sitting 7th in the table, and already out of Europe and the KNVB Cup.
Cocu is in his first season as head coach of PSV, and he has welcomed the arrival of Hiddink, who will once a week be available on the training ground to offer advise, but will not be on the bench at games.
The PSV coach told the official site, “Guus and I have had regular telephone contact over the last few months.I am glad that he is now ready to step up the existing contact ”
“You notice immediately that players go to him for advice . Also, I learned so much from him as a player. ”
Hiddink had two spells as coach of PSV, guiding the club to a European Cup win, six Eredivisie titles, and four cup wins in that time. Next summer Hiddink will take over from Louis van Gaal as Netherlands coach.
