Netherlands face Italy on the 4th of September before opening their European Championships campaign with a tough trip to the Czech Republic five days later.
Olympiakos midfielder Ibrahim Afellay has been recalled to the Netherlands squad for the first time since 2012, while Stoke City left back Erik Pieters, and Ajax’s Davy Klaassen are also called up. After missing the World Cup, Jeroen Zoet, and Rafael van der Vaart also feature.
There are no places for the injured PSG right back Gregory van der Wiel, or Tottenham goalkeeper Michael Vorm.
The full squad is:
Goalkeepers: Jeroen Zoet (PSV), Jasper Cillessen (Ajax) Tim Krul (Newcastle United)
Defenders: Daryl Janmaat (Newcastle United) Erik Pieters (Stoke City) Ron Vlaar (Aston Villa) Joel Veltman (Ajax) Stefan de Vrij (Lazio) Bruno Martins Indi (Porto) Paul Verhaegh (Augsburg)
