hiddink oranSince taking over from Louis van Gaal last summer, Hiddink has only overseen four wins out of ten matches, with crucial defeats to the Czech Republic and Iceland leaving Netherlands participation in next years European Championships in doubt. The World Cup semi-finalists sit third in qualifying group A with four games to go.

The 68-year-old was believed to be considering his future after the 2-0 win over Latvia earlier this month, and has now reportedly decided to step down with assistant Danny Blind now set to take charge.

Blind was supposed to take over from Hiddink after the Euros next year, but the 53-year-old will now be thrust into the top position in Dutch football, which is only his 2nd position as a head coach after a difficult year in charge of Ajax in 2005.

Official confirmation is expected within the next 48 hours, but it seems certain that Blind will be in charge by the time Netherlands face Iceland in September.
