Hull City has confirmed the signing of PSV Eindhoven defender Jordy de Wijs.

The 23-year-old has signed a three-year deal with the English Championship side, who have paid an undisclosed fee to PSV Eindhoven.

De Wijs joined the PSV academy in 2005 but only made one appearance for the first-team. The versatile centre-back spent last season on loan with Excelsior and was told this summer that he was free to look for another club.

Italian side Perugia were heavily linked but De Wijs has chosen an adventure in England. Speaking to the Hull City website, De Wijs said, “This is a big step for me and I’m happy to be a Hull City player.

“Playing in England has always been one of my ambitions and this is the right time for me to make this step. I am really excited to be here and I want to give everything for this team.”
