huntelaar 9Huntelaar has been out since suffering a knee injury in the 4-0 defeat to Wolfsburg back in August. A comeback was set for October, but a setback in training saw the striker once again go under the knife.

However Huntelaar is finally nearing full fitness again, and German paper Bild are reporting the Dutchman should be back for the match against Wolfsburg on February 1st.

The 29-year-old has had a frustrating 2013, but he will be hoping a return to form next year, could see him make a late run for Louis van Gaal’s Netherlands squad heading for the World Cup.

Schalke have reached the knock-out stages of the Champions League, while they also sit 7th in the Bundesliga table without Huntelaar’s help. The Dutchman’s return could see Jens Keller’s side make a run for the top four, and challenge Real Madrid in the Champions League.
