Huntelaar currently has a contract with the Bundesliga side until 2015, and although Schalke are keen for the striker to extend his deal, no talks are being held at the moment. The 30-year-old has made no secret of his desire to one day play in England, and with the possibility that their prized asset could leave for free in a year, Schalke may be forced to sell him this summer.
Speaking to German newspaper Bild, Huntelaar stated he doesn’t know what the future holds, and wants to finish the season before speaking about his future.
Huntelaar said, “I feel good at Schalke 04 , but I do not know what will happen.”
“We need to achieve something this season before we talk about the future. It will be after rather than before the World Cup.”
“We’re trying to win the last four games and at the expense of Borussia Dortmund to become vice-champion.”
The former Ajax, and Real Madrid striker has netted an impressive 11 goals in 15 league appearances in an injury hit season, and is certain to be a part of Netherlands squad for the summer World Cup.
