Ajax sporting director Marc Overmars has stated that the club are still keeping an eye on Klaas jan Huntelaar’s situation at Schalke.

The striker was heavily linked with a return to the Amsterdam Arena in the summer, but instead opted to remain with Schalke.
Speaking to De Telegraaf, Marc Overmars has revealed that Ajax have still not given up on Huntelaar rejoining the club.
He said, “Huntelaar is still interesting. He’s a real winner. Such guys we need. I’m not saying we’re going to get him, but we follow his situation closely.”
The 33-year-old played for Ajax between 2006 and 2008, scoring 72 times in 96 matches for the club.
