Groningen have their second win of the campaign after Oussama Idrissi’s header earned them a 1-0 victory over FC Twente in the Euroborg.

The home side have had a difficult start to the season with only five points earned from their opening five games and that led to Arjen Robben urging Groningen fans earlier this week to fill the stadium and support the team against Twente.
Groningen had the better of a scoreless first half with Juninho Bacuna, Lars Veldwijk and Mimoun Mahi all going close to the opener. Mahi had the best chance, but his shot was cleared off the line by Thomas Lam.
Six minutes into the second half the deadlock was broken with FC Twente unable to clear their lines in the box and Oussama Idrissi took advantage to nod the ball past Jorn Brondeel.
Twente looked for an equaliser but Sergio Padt saved well from Adnane Tighadouini as Groningen’s defence stood strong.
The victory lifts Groningen to 11th while Twente are 16th.
