PSV were poor in the first half and fell 2-0 behind before the break. In the second half, they improved but the match ended 2-1 with Ajax progressing to the KNVB Cup semi-finals.
Speaking afterwards to ESPN, Ihattaren was critical of PSV’s first half performance, “In the first 35 minutes we were not sharp. You can see that they clearly win the duels and are more comfortable in the game. They also score twice immediately. “
Ihattaren wants PSV to play more freely, “I come here to play football, like they (Ajax) did. I don’t come here to back up and take it easy. In the second half we dared a bit more, but that should become normal. That everyone has guts, like Ajax played. Everyone wanted to move forward there. Not that that is not the case with us, but that was not visible in the first 35 minutes.”
PSV are entering into contract talks with Ihattaren this month over a new deal, but the 18-year-old wouldn’t confirm his commitment to the club and is leaving it all to his agent Mino Raiola, “I leave it to my agent. As soon as he says: sign, then I sign. I trust him completely.”
