PEC Zwolle’s improving form continued on Saturday with a 2-0 victory over Excelsior.

After a difficult start to the campaign, PEC Zwolle have won three of their last five games in all competitions and drew 2-2 at AZ Alkmaar last weekend.

Against Excelsior, PEC Zwolle looked confident and they took the lead in the 23rd minute through Mike van Duinen’s strike that trickled into the net.

Excelsior went in search for an equaliser and Mounir El Hamdaoui went close but ten minutes into the second half it was 2-0 for the hosts as Thomas Lam rose to head in a free-kick.

PEC Zwolle remained in complete control before the end and came close to adding further goals through Bram van Polen and Van Duinen. However, Excelsior were saved from any further punishment.

The victory lifts PEC Zwolle up to 8th while Excelsior are 11th.
