The Dutch centre-back has refused to sign a new deal with Lazio and is set to leave Rome in the summer. Manchester United and Chelsea have been heavily linked with De Vrij, but a report in Italy today indicates that Inter Milan may be favourites to sign the defender.
La Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting that Inter have agreed a deal in principle with De Vrij for a four-year contract worth €3 million per season plus bonuses.
However, Lazio’s asking price may scupper the deal with club president Claudio Lotito reportedly unwilling to sell De Vrij for any less than €30 million, which is €10-15 million more than Inter were thinking.
Inter Milan have also been heavily linked with De Vrij’s Netherlands teammate Kevin Strootman in the past few weeks.
