Finnbogason netted his 9th goal in seven games for the Frisian side on Saturday, as they drew 3-3 with Roda JC, and the interest in the Eredivisie’s top scorer keeps growing.
Celtic, Lazio, Werder Bremen, and Newcastle United have all been credited with interest in the Icelandic international, with a bidding war in January expected.
Russian champions Zenit st Petersburg have now been added to the mix, but their move depends on whether they maintain participation in the Champions League past winter according to local media outlet Izvestia.
Finnbogason’s agent Magnus Magnusson told the same paper, “We have interesting offers from Italy, England, Germany and Russia. I will not disclose the names, but the interest is very specific,”
“For me it was not unexpected. Alfred does his job well, by scoring goals in every game of the Eredivisie. The best thing I think to move to England or Germany, but the choice is entirely up to Alfred.”
Heerenveen have tried unsuccessfully to extend the 24 year olds contract, but expect to raise a fee of €10 million with any sale in January.
