The 25 year gifted victory to Czech Republic in his last outing for the Dutch National team following a curious back pass in their Euro 2016 qualifier.
This is what the former Feyenoord man said to De Telegraaf, “I was surprised that I was not there anymore, because I had always been there for last two years in succession,”
Talking about the mistake the Newcastle player added, “I made a mistake and have to come out there. It was just a bad time, but at some point you have to release, we are now half a year later. I’ve learned from them and it will not return to me.”
The defender went on to add that he does not need to prove himself again, “So I’m not in. Come on, I do not need to prove again. I am 25 and it does not make sense as you would have to prove again. I come here to do my best and play as well as possible. Everyone knows what I can do, myself included.”
Janmaat also said that he has not yet talked to Gus Hiddink in person but will do so in coming days.
