The Dutch international’s future at Tottenham looked in doubt after the club signed Fernando Llorente from Swansea City and his omission from the Champions League squad proves that he is not part of Mauricio Pochettino’s plans.
The 23-year-old made 27 appearances in the Premier League last season but mainly as a late substitute. He has only appeared in one game so far this campaign but turned down the chance to join Brighton, who made a loan offer for the striker on the final day of the transfer window.
Janssen now seems set to spend the next few months sitting on the bench or in the stands before the transfer window reopens in January.
