After a 1-0 win in the first-leg, Monterrey took the lead through a Vincent Janssen penalty in the 86th minute. David Barbona would equalise, but Monterrey held on to take the cup 2-1 on aggregate.
It is a historic moment for Monterrey, who have now won the Mexican league, the cup and the CONCACAF Champions League. Only Cruz Azul have ever claimed that treble before.
Janssen has now scored 13 times in 45 games for Monterrey.
