Vincent Janssen has his first trophy since joining Monterrey after they took the Mexican title by defeating Club America on penalties.

Monterrey went into the second leg leading 2-1 but Club America fought back to take the game to penalties.
Vincent Janssen scored the first spot-kick as Monterrey went on to win 4-2 and take the championship. It is the first league title for Monterrey since 2010.
Janssen scored ten goals in twenty appearances since joining Monterrey and after the game he reassured fans that he wants to stay at the club. He is quoted by Voetbal International saying, “Yes, I see myself staying here for a very long time.”
