The right-back spoke of being convinced that if Ajax continues to play their style of football they will win trophies next season.

Veltman said, ”Of course tonight is a massive disappointment for us. We will feel that even more when we watch the game back in a few days.

”At this level possession is not quiet enough. Full credit to Manchester United. We knew that it was going to be difficult when we went 1-0 down.

”We spoke in the changing room at half-time that we needed to do more. We must continue to play our style of football. We are not all of a sudden going to play the football that Jose Mourinho team’s play.

”The style of football that we have played in the past few months is what we are going to continue with from the start of next season and I am convinced that we will win trophies.

”Of course our players will be of interest to other clubs such as Davidson Sanchez and Kasper Dolberg but I do not see them leaving.

”We have a very good team that has shown how far we can come in Europe and in order to achieve our goals we must stay together. We have full confidence that if we continue in this vein that we will in trophies next season.”
