Van den Brom has been heavily linked with the Israeli side over the past week, but the 50-year-old insisted after AZ’s 1-1 draw with Sparta that he knew nothing about the rumours.
He said, “Tonight was definitely not my last match as AZ manager. We play Heerenveen on Wednesday. I do not understand the commotion surrounding the rumors and I know nothing.
“I am convinced that I will not be the new manager of Maccabi Tel Aviv but the media are. So there is a problem. I am staying at AZ and I am surprised at the reports in the media.
“You see how quickly things develop especially with social media. I have no influence on these reports and there is also nothing I can do and I find annoying to have to respond to them.
“I am not open to leaving AZ. I am happy here and we are not finished. I had squad players congratulating me on my new club yesterday and I told them about the misunderstanding and would now like to put an end to the speculation.”
