AZ Alkmaar’s sixth win in a row means they are now second in the Eredivisie after 14 games and eight points behind the current leaders PSV Eindhoven.

van den Brom said, ”We showed once again today what we can do. We played well and were sharp in attack.

”We knew that the match here in Venlo would be really difficult because VVV Venlo are a real team who really fight for one another. I believe that the VVV Venlo players are more physical than what we are.

”We spoke about VVV Venlo at length during training this week with their physical capabilities and a lot of variety within their team.

”The league table does not lie. We are doing our best and we are in form. We are also keeping clean sheets and we have a team that wants to win which is great to see.”
